Avram Grant is new Portsmouth manager never saw that coming! Ha yeah right. See previous post.
So Liverpool fail in the champions league for the first time in 5 years. Not a massive surprise since it was out of their hands but this will be a massive blow to them fiancially. How long will Rafa last? I think they will keep faith for now but if they stumble at the first hurdle in the Europa cup he’s a gonna. If they win he will be a hero. Honestly I don’t see that happening though because there is very little depth to the squad and their defence is a bit shaky when put under pressure.
So I got it wrong but some what surprising that a club who sold virtually all their first team players and didn’t replace them expect not to be bottom of the pack. But whenever Avram Grant joins a club someone gets fired and it’s normally the manager.
Great to see the scot has come back in good form. He didn’t really have a major test this week though, which will have suited him, but it will be a different story when he’s up against Fed, Novak and Rafa.
I was wrong about the draw (but only just). Chelsea definitely look good now but it’s still early days.

Can’t wait to see this film it looks ammazing.
I have read many positive and negative articles about the state of Android and the future role it will have within the smartphone market. Before going any further I should state that I use Apple products and have a first generation iPod Touch, I also have a Nokia phone and in a year or so will be upgrading this phone to a smartphone.
The key to the success of Android in my opinion is in the hands of the manufactures that use Android rather than Google itself for adding features. Why? Well because outside of the tech fanatics (which includes me) people actually don’t like a huge amount of change (unless it is revolutionary change). Also, they need their phone to be simple to use yet have the potential to expand into something complex. Therefore, it is down to the manufacturers to produce this fine balance to the consumer. One thing you notice about many manufacturers (it is definitely true of Nokia) is that they give you lots of advanced features (such as camera effects and phone customisation) but they supply them in the most unintuitive way (I hardly bother to take photos on my phone because it’s just so difficult). However, if the manufacturers supplied the features in a clever and useable way then they are much more likely to sell to the people who like the idea of a smartphone but don’t want something complex.
This is really the advantage that Apple has had so far, but if manufacturers put their effort into a single offering instead of twenty then they can easily catch this up (with the manufactures software engineers and googles working together). They also need to provide similar hardware specifications with each upgrade so that existing software will be useable on the next phone. One of the things that is swaying me to an iPhone is that the software on my iPod Touch will work on an iPhone and a lot of the same software is not available on Android yet (hopefully it will be).
But do I think that hardware manufactures will do this? No. Simiply because they have it stuck in their heads that variety of choice = increased sales. It doesn’t it just dilutes the effort so you have twenty mediocre products rather than one great one (just ask motorola how great it is selling millions of phones but still losing money). But I would love to be proved wrong because with competition comes innovation (just look at the PC market how much has it changed in the last 10 years - not much most people still use XP).
She is now a published author. She works so hard and doesn’t get half the credit she should so it’s great to see some acknowledgement.
She works for a Corsetry and Wedding dress firm in Nottingham called Eternal Spirits and they make beautiful garments including stuff worn by Girls Aloud and Leona Lewis.

This is a really interesting piece. Especially:
The brain is constantly sensing nutrients like glucose, and hormones like leptin and insulin in order to determine current energy stores, and using this information to adjust energy intake and energy expenditure as needed. It does this by influencing our hunger and satiety, in order to keep body weight around a chosen set-point, or to return to a set-point after a short-term perturbation (e.g. a crash diet). So even though an individual may have decided to cut back on their caloric intake and increase their physical activity levels, this is obviously not so easy if their brain is making them feel hungry and lethargic all the time.
It says a lot about diets in general and why if you want to lose weight then it needs to be a lifestyle choice for life (not just for christmas new year). The article goes on to talk about the role of Peptide YY a hormone that regulates hunger and leaves the poser:
the $64,000 question remains - does obesity cause changes in PYY secretion, or does a deficiency in PYY secretion cause obesity?
If you ask me it’s probably more than a $64,000 question (billion dollar?).
